A U.S. postal worker, originally from Belleville, has been charged with stealing mail he was supposed to be delivering, according to police.
David A. Ledbetter, 37, was charged Tuesday for theft of mail by a postal worker. He stole mail in May with the intent to convert it for his own use, according to the United States Postal Inspection Service.
Officials were not able to specify what kind of mail, or how much, was stolen and were not immediately available to say where Ledbetter was a postal worker.
The offense carries a maximum penalty of up to 5 years of imprisonment.
