Two accidents involving seven vehicles, including two semi-trucks, closed westbound Interstate 70 Friday morning near Highland.
Illinois State Police spokesman Calvin Dye Jr. said there were two crashes near exit 30 — and while several injuries had been reported, none were classified as life-threatening as of 11:20 a.m. Friday.
Pictures posted by police showed a semi truck filled with what appeared to be paper products and another crash with a car on its roof.
Police asked people to stay out of the area if possible as cleanup and investigation continued.
“Westbound traffic is completely stopped but is being rerouted,” Dye said around 11:20 a.m. Friday “Traffic eastbound is proceeding, but proceeding slowly due to onlookers and emergency response vehicles.”
