Police on Monday continued searching for a man suspected of stealing cash from an auto repair shop earlier this month.

The man stole cash from the register at around 2 p.m. July 25 at the Meineke location on Lincoln Trail when the store was empty and an employee was in the back of the shop, according to Fairview Heights Police Officer Tim Mueller. The suspect reportedly forced the cash register open then put it back into place before leaving.

A store employee later noticed the cash was missing. A review of surveillance footage showed the suspect, a 25- to 30-year-old black male wearing a red Atlanta Falcons hat, a blue T-shirt, camouflage cargo shorts, white socks, and black and white shoes. He might have had a goatee.

The suspect drove an older model red Pontiac Grand Prix.
