Edwardsville police believe a bank robbery on Monday afternoon is connected to one in Glen Carbon on July 26.

The First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust in Edwardsville on Illinois 157 was robbed about 2:35 p.m. Monday, said Edwardsville Police Chief Jay Keeven.

The suspect, a white male around 6-feet tall wearing a white T-shirt, sunglasses and a baseball cap, implied he had a weapon but did not display it. The suspect is believed to have “prominent scarring around his mouth.”

He reportedly entered the bank and inferred to the teller her had a weapon while demanding money. He left the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Keeven said police are “fairly certain” the same individual robbed both banks. Officers were reviewing security footage Monday night.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Police are working with the FBI on this investigation.

He ran from the bank, as the suspect in Edwardsville did. He was last seen driving away in a red pickup truck.
