Belleville fire crews battled a house fire early Wednesday morning in the 3500 block of West A Street.
Fire Chief Tom Pour said 911 dispatchers received a report of the fire at about 7:30 a.m.
“I pulled up with the first truck and there was heavy fire coming out one of the front bedrooms,” he said. “There was heavy smoke throughout the rest of the house.”
He said crews were able to contain the fire and extinguish the flames, keeping the damage to those two rooms.

No one was injured during the fire, however investigators determined the fire was started intentionally.
“Our investigators did eliminate all natural causes of the fire and found that there was a fire started in the house,” Pour said.
Belleville Police Detective Sgt. Todd Keilbach said an investigation into the fire was ongoing with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal.
