Columbia man who pleaded guilty to receiving child porn said he had it ‘for years’

A 40-year-old Columbia man who pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography charges this week told investigators he had been downloading child porn “as far back as I can remember,” according to Donald Boyce, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.

Steven D. Blosser confessed to having child porn on his iPad and said it had been there “for years,” according to Boyce. Blosser also admitted he downloaded child porn and told officers the name of a website he visited to find child porn.

Officers searched his Columbia home in March 2016. They found thousands of child porn images on his computer and iPad, according to Boyce. The search also showed he had received child pornography images between September 2015 and February 2016.

The Columbia Police Department, FBI and Springfield Child Exploitation Task Force investigated the case.

The charge of receiving child pornography carries a possible prison sentence of at least five years, but no more than 20 years.
