Teen loses toes as he tries to hop off a train near Mascoutah, police say

A teen was injured after he tried to hop off a train with two other young teens in the Mascoutah area, said St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Bruce Fleshren.

The teens tried to get off the train around Mascoutah, and one of the teens lost some toes as he hopped off, Fleshren said. His friends carried him to Sixth Street and Illinois 161 in Mascoutah, and police and EMS found them there. Police believe they hopped the train in the Alorton area.

The injured teen was taken to the hospital, and the other two were turned over to Norfolk Railroad Police.
