A man ordered two sandwiches at Subway, then pulled out a gun and demanded money from the cashier, police say.

Belleville police responded to an armed robbery at the Subway at 2331 Old Collinsville Road just after 4 p.m. Monday, according to a news release.

Police said a black man between ages 20 and 30, about 5-foot-9 with a heavier build, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and black shorts, entered the Subway, ordered, then pulled out a gun to demand money.

The man grabbed an undisclosed amount of money and fled the store, according to the news release. No one was injured during the robbery.

Police were holding a person of interest Tuesday afternoon, and were not seeking any other people involved at the time, said Master Sgt. Todd Keilbach. Police wouldn’t release the identity of the man.
