Police find teen with head wound, gun at Belleville Super 8 motel

Belleville police found a 17-year-old boy with a visible head wound Thursday at a Super 8 motel.

Police responded to a call of a subject down at 4:17 p.m. Thursday at the Super 8 at 600 E. Main St., according to a news release. They found a white male in a room, conscious and breathing with a visible head wound.

An ambulance took him to the hospital, and he was later transported to a St. Louis area hospital by medevac helicopter, according to the news release. Police found a firearm in the room.

Super 8 assistant manager Chad Eisely said no one in the motel heard a shot or any type of commotion. The kids in the room, who Eisely estimated were in their early-20s, had been at the motel for a couple days and had been quiet, he said.

“It’s a freak thing. We’ve never had anything like that happen here,” Eisely said. “It’s beyond weird.”

Police did not respond Friday for further information.
