West Belleville cafe is closed for good, owner says

News-Democrat

The corner cafe Nanny Lou’s is for sale.

Located near the intersection of West Main and South 20th streets in Belleville, the eatery closed its doors earlier this month.

A sign on the door stated it was closed for renovations. Now, the restaurant is closed for good, owner Mike Buettner confirmed Tuesday.

“We had a good run,” Buettner said. “We had a nice business.”

Nanny Lou’s opened two-and-a-half years ago with breakfast and lunch on the menu.

Back then, Buettner said he wanted to cater to college students from the nearby Lindenwood University campus. But now Buettner, who is also a Belleville alderman, said he is ready to retire from the restaurant industry.

The list price for the restaurant was not immediately available.
