Jonny’s Pizza & Pasta in Fairview Heights will soon have a new name, but the recipes are staying the same.
After nine years of ownership, Jon Weaving and his family recently sold the pizza shop at 4628 N. Illinois St.
That means changes are ahead.
The new owners, Abby Thompson and her husband, Dustin, plan to keep most items on menu. Unpopular choices will go away, Abby said. They also plan to change the name.
Weaving had named the pizza shop after himself, even though it is a part of the Joe’s Pizza and Pasta franchise. The company gave him permission to use the name, and make modifications to the menu.
His family operated the business for nine years. In a Facebook message posted Tuesday, Weaving said his final goodbye to customers.
“We want to devote as much time to our family as we can and I wasn’t able to work my full time job, work at the restaurant and see my kids as much as I would like,” Weaving wrote. “We wanted the restaurant to be in good hands and have found great owners to take over the reigns.”
Abby Thompson will run the daily operations. Dustin, an elementary school teacher in Freeburg, will keep his job and work in the restaurant.
The couple is offering special promotions to celebrate their new venture. For more information, call 618-416-4464.
