The man who killed 58 people during a shooting from a Las Vegas hotel room had booked two rooms at a Chicago music festival in August, reports say.
TMZ reported that Stephen Paddock had booked rooms at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago, specifically requesting rooms that face Grant Park, where the Lollapalooza festival was held. The rooms were booked from Aug. 1 to Aug. 6; the festival was from Aug. 3-6 and attracted more than 400,000 people over the three days.
The Las Vegas sheriff said Paddock had also rented a room at a previous music festival in Las Vegas.
“Was he doing pre-surveillance? We don’t know yet,” said Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo. “This is all pre-conjecture.”
Paddock shot and killed 58 people at the Route 91 Harvest Festival. Nearly 500 others were wounded at the festival, where more than 22,000 were listening to Jason Aldean at the time of the shooting.
The Blackstone Hotel would not comment Thursday morning.
