Sunny skies early Thursday, soaking rain moves in later

Heavy fog in spots of the metro-east will slow the morning commute Thursday.

It is expected to linger until about 10 a.m. After that skies will become mostly sunny with a high near 70, according to the National Weather Service.

Starting Thursday night, a weather pattern with lots of showers will move into the area and stick around for a couple of days.

There is an 80 percent chance of rain overnight Thursday when the low will drop to about 47.

The chance of showers will increase to 90 percent Friday, when the high will be 56. The low overnight will be 46.

On Saturday, the chance of showers will be 70 percent with a high of 61. The change of rain will drop to 20 percent Saturday night, when the low will be 38.

Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain could fall on the area during the duration of the showers. Flash flooding is possible with the ground already saturated thanks to melted snow and rain earlier this week.
