A Freeburg man won $2 million playing the lottery in O’Fallon.

David Schmittling bought a $10 scratch-off ticket at the Circle K at 826 W. Highway 50.

“At first, it was very hard to believe that I had just won $2 million,” Schmittling said. “I kept thinking that I may have not read the ticket right.”

The game Schmittling played was called “50X the Cash,” according to lottery officials. So far, six of the $2 million top prizes in the game have not been claimed.

Schmittling said he plans to invest his winnings.
