Granite City Police have located a truck that they were seeking earlier Monday in their investigation of a fatal hit-and-run accident from Sunday.

Police announced Monday they were seeking a silver-gray two-door extended cab truck that may have been the one that hit and killed Mark Scott Harris, 25, of St. Louis on Route 203 early Sunday morning. Harris’s body was found at 8 a.m., about five hours hours after police estimated he was hit along the side of the road, about one quarter-mile east of 21st Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is pending with the Madison County Coroner’s Office. The cause of death was not immediately released. In the meantime, Granite City Police released a surveillance video on their Facebook page that they said shows the described truck with damage to the front passenger side and headlamp.

The posting asks the public for assistance. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Granite City Police Department at 877-61211.

Later Monday, Major Ken Rozell announced that the vehicle had been located, but they have no further comment at this time.
