Sunny skies to start the day, clouds and chance of storms later

The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies Tuesday across the metro-east with a high temperature of 68.

Winds will increase throughout the day and are expected to gust up to 30 mph by the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms over the evening hours with the most likely time for rain being after 8 p.m. The low will be 44.

Showers are possible into the morning hours Wednesday with a 30 percent chance before 8 a.m. After that, skies will become increasingly sunny but the high will stall at 59. That’s 11 degrees cooler than the average high temperature of 70 degrees for April 22 in the St. Louis area.

Wednesday night the low will be 47.

It will be mostly sunny with a high of 62 Thursday. Overnight, the low will be 45 under partly cloudy skies.
