The Illinois Department of Transportation on Thursday reopened the ramp from northbound Illinois 3 onto the westbound Interstate 270.
The ramp had been closed since the fall of 2011 when the new Chain of Rocks Canal bridge was being built.
Workers have now closed the temporary westbound I-270 ramp from Illinois 3, covered temporary signals and removed the median cross-over that was in place, said IDOT Supervising Field Engineer Barry Gibbs.
The overall bridge project is about 95 percent complete and the rest of the work is taking place underneath the bridge, Gibbs said.
