Woman describes how she found a body in a Cahokia trash bin
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated Tuesday after a body was found in a dumpster in the 100 block of Jerome Lane.
A resident of the apartment complex, Teresa Bryant, said she found the body while trying to pull a quilt from the dumpster.
Bryant said she was waiting for someone to pick her up to play dominoes and decided to clean up her apartment. While throwing some trash away, she saw a quilt she thought was pretty and wanted to keep it.
Bryant was unable to pull the quilt out, and eventually, while struggling to remove it, she saw the body. Bryant said the man’s head was wrapped in plastic wrap.
“I’m hoping that anybody finds out who this poor man was, and his family can find peace,” she said.
Cahokia Lt. Dennis Plew said police had not determined the identity of the man as of Tuesday afternoon. He said police did not have any leads or suspects.
Bryant said she was shocked and had never seen anything like that.
“This is not St. Louis; it’s normally pretty quiet over here,” Bryant said.
Police took the dumpster away from the area.
Additional information was not immediately available.
Anyone with information about the body can call the Major Case Squad at 618-332-4248.
