One woman seriously injured in head-on crash on Illinois 15

One woman was transported to a hospital with serious injuries from a head-on crash Thursday morning.

Illinois State Police say a 2016 Toyota Camry, driven by Holly Reinheimer, 28, of Freeburg, crossed the center line to pass several vehicles at about 9 a.m. on Illinois 15 between Beaucoup and Ashley. Reinheimer’s eastbound vehicle hit Jane Pelcznski, 72, of Ashley, who was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox westbound.

The impact on the driver’s side of both vehicles caused the Equinox to overturn, said Illinois State Police Trooper Joshua Haile, and the Camry left the road.

Pelcznski was flown by helicopter to a regional hospital with “major injuries,” a news release said. Reinheimer was cited for improper passing and failure to reduce speed; she was not injured in the crash.
