Police identify man found dead after single-car O'Fallon crash

A St. Jacob man who was killed in a single-car crash in O’Fallon was identified Wednesday morning.

Thomas Giger, 68, was found dead in his truck on the side of Scott Troy Road around 12:53 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police were dispatched to a report of a pickup truck in a ditch off of the roadway, according to O’Fallon police Sgt. Mike Mojzis.

Mojzis said it appears the man was driving northbound in the 400 block of Scott Troy Road when he drove off the road and into a ditch in a wooded area near the road.

Officers do not suspect alcohol was involved in the crash, Mojzis said.

Visitation for Giger is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wolfersberger Funeral Home in O'Fallon. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in O'Fallon.
