Hit-and-run in Cahokia injures 55-year-old pedestrian

Cahokia police were seeking information Thursday on a hit-and-run that took place Saturday.

Chief David Landmann said police were looking for a gray or silver vehicle that may be an SUV or a van. The vehicle would have a damaged driver's side mirror, he said.

A 55-year-old man from East Carondelet was injured and taken to the hospital after he was struck by the vehicle in the 100 block of Water Street in Cahokia, Landmann said. Water Street is also called Illinois 3. Police said the road is lighted in that area and the speed limit is 45 mph.

Cahokia police did not immediately have an update on the man's condition on Thursday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run or the vehicle can call Officer Kathy Collins at 618-332-4277.
