Southern Illinois police searching for suspect with 'unique accent'

Carbondale Police are looking for a man with "a unique accent" they believe broke into a home and attempted to sexually assault a women.

Officers responded to a call in the 400 block of West Freeman Street at about 2 a.m. Monday. The woman told police a man had broken in, and "took actions to lead the victim to believe she was going to be sexually assaulted."

The woman reported to police that the man had "a unique accent."

She was not injured during the incident.

Carbondale Police are looking for a black man who is 6 feet tall with a heavy-set build. He has light brown eyes and was wearing dark gray sweatpants and a gray fleece hooded sweatshirt. He had a ski mask with an SIU logo covering his face, police said.
