Two St. Louis restaurants have made Yelp's list of the Top 100 Places to Eat for 2018.
No. 10 is Blues City Deli in the Benton Park neighborhood.
"We've been cranking out St. Louis' finest po-boys and muffulettas for a few years now," according to its website.
The restaurant at 2438 McNair Ave. also serves Memphis-style barbecue, New York-style pastrami sandwiches, red beans and rice, hot dogs, salads and home-baked cookies. There is live music on most Thursday and Saturday nights.
"It's a big old house party every day," the website says.
No. 52 on Yelp's list is Bogart's Smokehouse, a barbecue restaurant in Soulard. It serves pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs, turkey, pastrami, burnt ends and tri-tip sirlions.
The national recognition was a big surprise for co-owner Michael Macchi, who heard about it Tuesday morning from a friend. Then a TV station showed up to interview him.
"It's really a blessing as far as helping our business and getting out the word about us," he said.
Bogart's opened seven years ago at 1627 S. Ninth St,, across from Soulard Farmer's Market. Macchi can only guess how the restaurant made Yelp's list.
"We've (had) a lot of good reviews from customers over the years," he said. "Our help is wonderful, and a lot of them have been with us since Day One. It's just got a good vibe here in the restaurant."
Yelp.com is a website that publishes information and customer reviews on businesses, including restaurants. This is the fifth year for its list of the Top 100 Places to Eat. The announcement was made Tuesday in an official blog post.
"Yelp’s data science team compared businesses from across the country, using a ranking that considered ratings and number of reviews, while also accounting for quality and popularity, to not only reveal what’s top rated but what’s most popular across the country," it stated.
