Decatur Police have charged a 64-year-old grandfather with aggravated battery to a child and domestic battery for allegedly bruising a child by hitting him with a belt.
Police say they were called at about 6 p.m. Monday to the local hospital, where a 12-year-old boy with bruises on his elbow, arm, wrist and thigh was being treated. The boy and the grandfather told police the man had hit the boy with a leather belt.
The charges are preliminary and being reviewed by the Macon County State's Attorney's Office, The Herald & Review says.
The man was released on $15,000 bond and has a court date. His name was not available on Wednesday.
