Southern Illinois man killed when dirt bike and pickup crash

A 40-year-old Kell man died when his dirt bike collided with a pickup, according to Illinois State Police.

Norman Boxx was killed in the crash Friday evening, according to Salem radio station WBJD.

Police said a pickup driven by 45-year-old William Jones of Kell was southbound on Kell Road when he began making a left turn and entered into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into Boxx.

Boxx was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, where he was pronounced dead.

Jones was not injured. He was issued a citation for making an improper turn.

State Police said the investigation was continuing.
