A section of Frank Scott Parkway West between North Belt West and Illinois Route 13 will be closed this week.

Belleville Engineering Secretary Rene Thompson said the section will be closed Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 12, to make improvements to the railroad crossing in an email obtained by the Belleville News-Democrat.

The St. Clair County Highway Department does not list the road closure on its website.

The city has marked detours near Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic School and Skyview Drive-In along North Belt West and near the strip mall at Illinois 13 and Frank Scott Parkway West.

Thompson said transport company Canadian National Railway is overseeing the repairs. The railroad did not respond to requests for comment before publication.
