Cause of death unknown for men found dead in Pontoon Beach motel room

Police are working to learn what happened to two men found dead Monday in a motel room in Pontoon Beach.

According to a statement from Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn, Duane A. Logsdon, 31, of Effingham and David A. Davis, 30, of Olney were found deceased in room 307 at the Super 8 at 4141 Timberlake Drive.

Pontoon Beach police first found the bodies at 6:41 a.m. Monday and notified the coroner’s office about an hour later. Logsdon and Davis each were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:21 a.m. and 8:22 a.m., respectively. The statement from the coroner’s office said, “No overt indication of foul play was present.”

Autopsies on the men were performed Monday afternoon and were inconclusive. Routing toxicology test results are pending. Illinois State Police is assisting Pontoon Beach Police and the coroner’s office in the investigation.

Wojstrom Funeral Home in Pontoon Beach is handling funeral arrangements for Davis. Arrangements for Logsdon are pending.
