Two St. Louis men face charges related to the 2012 death of a Centralia area man.
Jessie Hampton, 24, and Malcom Johnson, 25, both of St. Louis, were charged this week with multiple drug and weapons charges.
Scipio Vaughn, of Bonnie, near Centralia, was killed July 15, 2012 in St. Louis. At the time, news reports said he approached a vehicle in St. Louis and was shot after he turned from the suspect vehicle. He later died at a St. Louis hospital. Vaughn was 33.
Hampton and Johnson were each indicted on:

▪ one felony count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine
▪ two felony counts of possession of a firearm in a drug crime resulting in murder
▪ conspiracy to obstruct commerce by robbery
Hampton is a previously convicted felon and is also charged with being in possession of a firearm as a felon. Hampton’s criminal charges go back to 2009 in St. Louis area courts.
The U.S. attorney’s office, which brought the charges, could not comment on anyone else who may have been faced charges related to Scipio’s death.
