Investigators on Saturday were trying to determine how a man fell onto MetroLink tracks in Swansea and had his foot severed.

The victim was identified as Jeffrey Coker, 56, of East St. Louis.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department received a call about the incident at 6:40 p..m. Friday.

“When sheriff's deputies arrived, they found Mr. Coker lying on the train tracks with a severed left foot,” said Sheriff’s Investigator Scott Toth.
