One more hot day in store Thursday; Cooler in time for the weekend

Dangerously hot weather will again blanket the metro-east Thursday.

A heat advisory remains in place until 7 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

The high will reach 96 under sunny skies with a heat index of 102. A small amount a relief will come in the form of a breeze at 5-10 mph from the northwest.

The record high for the day is 100, set on June 16, 1952.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon with the possibility that –if they form –they could become severe with damaging winds and small hail.

It will be mostly clear Thursday night with a low of 68.

Things will cool off considerably Friday when the high is expected to top out at 88. Skies will be sunny with a 5-8 mph northeast wind.

The weekend looks like it will be sunny with a high of 89 on Saturday and 92 on Sunday.

The low will be 66 Saturday night under mostly clear skies. It will again be mostly clear Sunday night with a low of 66.
