It’s going to be a sunny and pleasant day Wednesday in the metro-east with temperatures in the low 80s.
But wet weather could hang around the St. Louis area later in the week and through the Independence Day weekend.
The high Monday will top out at 83, about four degrees cooler than the average high temperature for this time of year in the area, according to the National Weather Service.
Wednesday night, the low will drop to 61 with a slight chance of thunderstorms coming late in the evening.
The chance of thunderstorms will increase to 30 percent Thursday, when the high will be 84.
There is a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms Thursday night, when the low will be 68.
It will be partly sunny Friday with a high of 84.
But a 20 percent chance of rain returns Friday night when the low will be 63.
The extended forecast calls for a 50 percent chance of showers Saturday with a high of 79, and a 60 percent chance of showers Sunday, when the high will be 80.
There’s a 30 percent chance of rain Monday for the Fourth of July, when the high will be 86.
