A Belleville roofing contractor has been cited again by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for allegedly putting workers in danger.
The federal agency said Robert Barringer III already owes at least $267,000 in penalties for previous citations.
OSHA issued new citations to Barringer Brothers Roofing on July 29 for 10 safety violations. The agency said inspectors observed “five roofers working at a height of 13 feet without adequate fall protection” on May 18. As a result of the inspection, OSHA said Barringer faces proposed penalties of $89,100.
Barringer could not be immediately reached for comment.
According to OSHA, Barringer has been cited at least 19 times for “failing to protect workers from fall hazards.” The agency has cited him under various company names, including Barringer Brothers Roofing, Barringer Brothers Inc. and Barringer Brothers Construction Inc.
