Main Street Market is demolished following fire in Belleville

Main Street Market became rubble on Tuesday as demolition crews razed the damaged building.

The neighborhood market at 8193 W. Main St. in Belleville was gutted by a fire on June 16, likely as a result of an equipment malfunction.

Owners John Carpenter and Mike Chenault owned and operated the market for about 42 years. Then in February 2014, they sold the building bonds for deed to Harvin Enterprises Inc., Arvind Aggrawal and Dimple Aggrawal.

Insurance issues were complicating the decision to re-build the market, and neither set of owners was immediately available.
