A Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21 at Highland VFW Post 5694, 1900 VFW Road, in honor of Don Lohman.
Lohman worked as a police officer for the city of Highland for 24 years, retiring as a sergeant in 2000; he then became a utility locator for the city, retiring in June 2015.
He was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Police Pension Board, Knights of Columbus Council 1580, 4th Degree Assembly, and the Franciscan Associate for Hospital Sisters of St. Francis. He was active in Cursillo Movement, was a former Scout Master, Troop 40, was a charter organization representative of the Boy Scouts, and he co-founded the New Switzerland Model Railroad Club.
Lohman died on Friday, June 3, 2016. He was 66.
The blood drive is being sponsored by the VFW and its auxiliary.
