Women’s Connection to host “Discovering the Harmony in Life” brunch

The Highland Area Christian Women’s Connection invites all ladies to at “Discovering the Harmony in Life” brunch Tuesday, July 11, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., at at Urban Farmhouse Eatery and Pie Co., 15 Central Blvd. in Highland.

Come enjoy the violin music of Anjlui and Ariana Kampwerth and listen to speaker Lori Boruff, an author from Aledo, Illinois, present an interactive talk entitled “Living Life Together.”

League of Writers to talk about finding an agent

The Highland League of Writers will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 3 in meeting room No. 2 at the Korte Recreation Center in Highland. The main discussion will be “Finding an Agent” and “Exploring Writer’s Digest Guide to Literary Agents.” Anyone interested in writing is invited to attend. Bring your ideas, plots, or thoughts, up to several pages for a friendly critique. Poetry, memoirs, magazine, anything written are welcome. You can also come just to hear the readings. There are no dues, fees or assigned topics. Meetings are normally the first and third Monday each month. Mazzio’s night to benefit Hitz Home

Mazzio’s Pizza in Highland will be hosting a fundraising night for the Hitz Memorial Home Auxiliary. A percentage of all items sold Monday, July 10 from 5 to 9 p.m. will go to the auxiliary of Hitz Home in Alhambra.

Faith Countryside Homes invites all seniors 60 and over to join them for their fun, food and companionship community meal program. Meals are served Monday through Friday, excluding holidays, in the Countryside Community Center, 1331 26th St. Reservations for the upcoming week should be made by 1 p.m. this Friday. Monday, July 3: Turkey and noodles, buttered peas, side salad with dressing, frosted brownie á la mode.

Friday, July 7: Beef Teriyaki, steamed rice, Oriental vegetables, banana cream pie.
