The Spring Session at The New Douglas Rec Plex began March 1. Now is a great time to sign up for classes.
The Rec Plex is considering starting up a babysitting program in the evenings.
An instructor has been acquired for the kids summer camp (hours and days are still being determined).
Organizers are also in the beginning stage of starting up couple’s dance and line dance lessons.
The Rec Plex is still in search of DVD or VHS tapes for its private aerobics room.

Masons chili supper
The Madison Masonic Lodge 560 of New Douglas will host an all-you-can-eat chili supper from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. There will be choice of chili or soup, along with a sandwich, dessert and drink all for $7. The lodge is located on the 100 block of N. Main Street in New Douglas (connected to the post office). Fire department pancake and sausage breakfast
The New Douglas Fire Department will hold a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 22 at the New Douglas Firehouse, 105 E. Allen St. The all-you-can-eat breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, homemade donuts and drinks. Cost is $7 for adults and carry-outs; $4 for children ages 5-10; and kids 4 and under eat free.
Advance sausage orders
Advance sausage orders are being taken for 5-pound packages of both link and bulk (Ron’s recipe). Cost is $3.60 per pound. You may call in your order to (217) 456-6221 (leave you name and phone number and you will be called back). You may also email your order to email@example.com. Orders must be in no later than March 14. You will be able to pick up your order at the New Douglas Firehouse from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 21 for from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 22.
Lutheran church spaghetti dinner
Immanuel Lutheran Church of New Douglas will hold a spaghetti dinner and bake sale from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 in the Parish Hall. All proceeds will be sent to various charities and the kitchen fund. For more information, contact (217) 456-7611.
Fire department thank you
A big thank you from the fire department to Rachel Fogg, Chris Fogg and Thomas Richter for washing all the New Douglas fire trucks this week.
Easter Egg hunt
The New Douglas Baptist Church's annual Easter egg hunt will be March 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Township Park Pavilion. Bring an Easter egg basket. Don't miss out on the prizes, food and fun. You can contact the NDBC at (217) 456-6161 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Grace period voter registration runs through Saturday, April 4. The last day to request to vote by mail is Thursday, April 2. the early voting period runs from Monday, March 23 through Saturday, April 4. Election day is Tuesday, April 7. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Community Center Rental
The New Douglas Community Center can be rented for events. Contact Linda Huntsinger (618) 402-1726 to reserve a time.
Center Schools Girl Scout Troop 426 will meet every second and fourth Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the New Douglas Community Center. Contact Rachel Fogg at (603) 205-2433 for more information. Grades K-12 are welcome.
The New Douglas Volunteer Fire Department will meet every first, second and fourth Monday.
The Wednesday Women Book Club will meet every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. This is a weekly book study group focused on Christian faith. Refreshments are provided. Contact Stephanie McNealy (217) 456-6161 for more information.
The American Legion meets every second Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Masonic Lodge meets every third Wednesday at 7 p.m.
New Douglas Township meets every second Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the township building, 104 S. 2nd St.
The New Douglas Senior Citizens meet every second Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at the New Douglas Community Center. New members are being sought, anyone 55 and up.
The New Douglas Village Board meets every third Monday at 7 p.m. at the New Douglas Community Center.
