Breese veterinary clinic under new ownership

Veterinary Services Ltd. in Breese is under new ownership.

After having been in partnership since 2012, Dr. Emily Wood has purchased the practice from Dr. William Greenwald.

Dr. Wood graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 2002. After practicing for three years in Kansas, she moved to Carbondale, where she practiced at a small animal hospital for three years. She then took a 3 ½ year break from veterinary medicine to care for her children.

Presently, Dr. Wood, her husband Eric, and their two children, Nora and Sophia, reside in Okawville, along with Champ, a Boston terrier, and Shelby, a beagle.

Veterinary Services Ltd. is a full-service small animal hospital, providing preventive, medical, surgical and dental care. It features in-house laboratory equipment, radiology and anesthetic monitoring equipment.

Dr. Wood has special interests in surgery, internal medicine and behavioral medicine. She strongly believes in preventive care to prolong pets’ lives.

Veterinary Services Ltd. has served the veterinary needs of Breese and the surrounding area for more than 50 years. The business was established in 1960 as a general veterinarian practice by Dr. Raymond Husmann, DVM, and Dr. Byford Wood, DVM, (no relation to Dr. Emily Wood). As Clinton County saw a decline in its dairy farm agricultural base, the public need for veterinary service changed from general practice with an emphasis on dairy cattle to a full-service small animal hospital.

Dr. Emily Wood and the staff of Veterinary Services look forward to continuing this service for many years to come.
