A boil order has been issued, affecting all residents of Troy who are tapped in to the city water system.
It was issued late Monday and could last through Wednesday.
The boil order was issued because city workers must repair a broken 16-inch water main, according to Troy Public Works Director Alan Secrest.
The repairs are expected to take 24-48 hours, Secrest said. Until the all clear is declared, residents must boil any tap water they consume for at least five minutes before drinking.
