Alhambra news for the week of March 25

Alhambra Primary

During the third quarter, 33 students had perfect attendance.

The results for the Scholastic Book Fair were very good. The school sales amounted to $1,400, therefore the teachers and library will receive $700 in free books. Jessie Ketchum, Lisa Cooper and Heidi Garman made this possible by volunteering to chair this event and to help clean up afterward.

There will be a Domino’s fundraiser on Tuesday, April 7.

Students will be in school on March 30, 31 and April 1 to make up for the days they were out during the teachers strike. Spring Break will be April 2-6, and classes will resume on April 7.

Alhambra Primary has the green-and-white bin in the parking lot for recycling. This is the USAgain bin. During the 2014 school year, the recycled materials amounted to 5,415 pounds of textiles. This made a huge impact on saving our earth by not putting all this material in a landfill. The PTO also got paid by the pound for all donated textiles.

Parents of children who will be 5 years old on or by Sept. 1, 2015 are asked to call the Alhambra Primary School at 488-2200. Children who are currently enrolled in pre-K will already be registered. Calls are only necessary if your child will not be attending school at Alhambra this fall. Kindergarten visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 1. Children enrolled in kindergarten already will not be in school that day.
