Anastasia M. “Ann” Stoff, 88, of Highland died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at her home.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20 at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 20 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, with Father Scott A. Snider, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.
She was born on Friday, Aug. 6, 1926 in St. Rose to Frank and Elizabeth (Schrage) Straeter. On Oct. 18, 1951, she married Harold J. Stoff. He passed away on March 19, 2005.
Mrs. Stoff attended St. Rose School. She worked briefly at Brown Shoe Co. in Highland and Wicks Organ Co., prior to marriage.
After her children were grown, she was the “Polka Lady” on Request Time on WINU radio on Saturdays.
She was a polite and religious woman who was proud of her seven children. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cards.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and served as an Eucharistic minister for nursing homes.
Survivors include daughters, Mary B. (Robert C.) Becker, Donna K. Stoff, Kathleen M. (Kenneth) Klostermann, Barbara J. (David) Barton and Linda B. (Dean) Frank, all of Highland; sons, Gregory G. (Mindy S.) Stoff of Highland and Joseph H. Stoff of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Cassandra M. Becker (twin) of Highland, Tyler C. Becker (twin) of Highland, Nicole L. (fiance Matthew Pellock) Stoff of Highland, Alex G. Stoff of Highland, Alisia M. (significant other Garrett Schmidt) Klostermann of Edwardsville, Briana S. (Dan) Frierdich of Edwardsville, Christopher P. Klostermann of Highland, Connor D. Barton of Highland, Logan B. Barton of Highland, Sara E. (Elios) Klemo of Wilmington, N.C., Evan T. Stoff of St. Louis, Mo., Anastasia L. (Brian) Vosholler of Highland, Cameron “CJ” Frank of Highland and Shannon R. Frank of Highland; great-grandchildren, Lukas J. and Daisy L. Klemo of Wilmington, N.C.; and a brother, Lawrence (Marie) Straeter of St. Rose.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rosemary Straeter, who died at age 7, and Veronica “Fornie” Ratermann; brothers, Alphonse Straeter and Vic Straeter; brothers-in-law, Otto F. Stoff, who died on April 7, 1985, George J. Stoff Jr. , who died on Nov. 30, 2000, and Bernard A. Stoff, who died on Nov. 10, 1996; and sisters-in-law, Pauline M. Becker, who died on April 6, 1996, Theresa M. Lebegue, who died on Aug. 28, 1974, Martha J. Drees Woll, who died on March 22, 1994, Alvina A. Gramlich, who died on Dec. 29, 1973, and Bernice C. Dubach Willi, who died on Jan. 10, 2009.
