Carroll Wayne Hessenauer, 70, of Greenville died on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 7 at Young Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial was in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1944 in Highland to Louis Wade and Wanda (Miller) Hessenauer. He married Carol Ann Hochuli on Aug. 8, 1970 in Highland. She survives.
Mr. Hessenauer grew up in Old Ripley and Grantfork and graduated from Highland High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from September 1962 to November 1967 and received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After the service, he went to work for Rasler Plumbing in Greenville and then worked out of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 553 in East Alton until he retired in 2005. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring classic Thunderbirds. He made hand-crafted guitars and enjoyed playing music. He was a member of Greenville First Christian Church.

He is also survived by children, Carla A. (William “JR”) Paradee of Greenville, Gary J. (Faye) Hessenauer of Greenville and Jeffrey W. (Lynn) Hessenauer of Greenville; sisters, Sandy (Charlie) Barnes of Franklin, Ky., and Candy Shaw of Greenville; grandchildren Steven (Vanessa), Kyle (Sarah), Brittany, Aubrie, Grady, and Jacob; and great-granddaughter, Elaina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wade Hessenauer.
