Marie E. Pinney, 92, of Jacksonville, Ill., died on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with a graveside service to be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 at Robinson Cemetery in Pocahontas.
She was born Oct. 13, 1922 in Brownstown to Otis and Cora Lawler Doyle. She married John Roy, and he preceded her in death. She later married the Rev. Leonard Pinney, and he survives.
Mrs. Pinney had worked as a production worker in three industries in Vandalia and later was a self-employed in home caregiver for 35 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roodhouse, Ill. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed hunting mushrooms, traveling and quilting.
She is also survived by a son, Russell (Gwen) Roy of Hannibal, Mo.; a granddaughter, Jackie Scott of Joplin, Mo.; and great-grandchildren, Carter and Kailyn Scott.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.
