Missouri S&T senior third baseman Adam Richter, a Highland native and a Mater Dei graduate, was recently named to the 2017 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Second Team.
Richter hit for a .366 average, which ranked him second best on the Miners, and his team-high 44 runs batted in rank ninth in the GLVC. Richter also ranked first on the team in doubles (13) and his 64 hits this season place him second on the team and his 164 hits for his career also rank among the top 10 totals in school history.
As a junior in 2016, Richter finished the season with a .331 average and 27 runs batted in He had 14 multiple-hit games on the year, with three hits against William Jewell on April 24 and Missouri-St. Louis on May 1 with three runs batted in. He scored 23 runs during the year and reached base in 11 consecutive games at one poin. Richter had hits in five of S&T’s six games at the NCAA Midwest Regional and hit .324 in S&T’s nine post-season contests.
As a sophomore in 2015, Richter batted .300 for the season as he started in 38 of the 45 games he appeared in. He scored 21 runs and drove in 13. Richter had nine multiple-hit games which included four three-hit outings, and had back-to-back three-hit games against Lincoln and Indianapolis. During one four-game stretch in March, he had 10 hits in 15 at-bats. Richter played at second and third base as well as serving as a designated hitter during the year.
