The Frontier Greys professional baseball team announced that they will be hosting their Frontier League rivals, the Gateway Grizzlies, in an exhibition game at Glik Park in Highland, on Saturday, May 2, beginning at 7:05 p.m.
Along with the two teams, Izzy the Grizzly and the Grizzlies Promotional Team will present information on the 2015 season and Highland Night when the Greys visit Gateway on Sunday, July 19.
The exhibition game with the Grizzlies will be used as a fundraiser for the HUBSL (Highland Youth Baseball/Softball League) and to make improvements at Glik Park. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the gate. In the event of rain, the game will be rescheduled for Sunday, May 3.
Along with HYBSL, Glik Park is the home field for Highland High School and Highland American Legion Post 439. Glik Park also hosted the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament for seven seasons.

“I feel that I can speak for the majority of baseball fans in Highland that we are excited at having the opportunity to watch the Greys and Grizzlies in our own hometown,” Mark Rosen, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Highland said. “This is a huge compliment to the administration that created Glik Park 20-plus years ago.”
“The reception that the Greys received from the Highland community last season was tremendous,” commented Frontier League Deputy Commissioner Steve Tahsler. “The players were overwhelmed with the way they were treated while in town and the good will has continued during the lead-up to the 2015 season. We are glad to bring this game to Glik Park as a way of showing our appreciation.”
The Frontier Greys are entering their third season as members of the 14-team Frontier League.
The Greys are a travel club, playing games in each of the other 13 Frontier League ballparks. The Greys will be based out of Highland for the 2015 season, where they will hold spring training from April 30-May 14. The Greys open the regular season at the Windy City ThunderBolts on Friday, May 15.
