The Highland Splash dunked three more opponents on Saturday, June 25 at Highland Community Pool.

The Splash swamped their three competitors by a final one-sided margin of 396 to just double digits for their trio of foes: Paddlers Swim and Dive (78), Splash City Gators (71) and SWISA All Stars (40).

The Splash, who are coached by Ryan Poss, Alex Rinderer, Joel Mason and Abby Rinderer, went on to swim laps around the Freeburg Waves 405 to 125 on Tuesday of last week and the Dorchester Dolphins 325 to 203 on Thursday to run their sparkling perfect record to 9-0. Those two stories and meet results will be in next week’s edition of the News Leader.

In the three landslide wins at the home quadrangle meet on June 25, Highland won first place in 50 of the overall 70 races, highlighted by taking nine of the 10 individual medleys, eight of each of the medley relays and the freestyle relays, and seven of the 10 of each of the freestyle and butterfly events.

Alyssa Freimann, 16, reclaimed the Highland Splash team record in the girls 15-18 100-meter butterfly after stopping the clock with a new standard time of 31.69 seconds. It came just two days after Victoria Thomae, 16, had posted a new mark of 32.03 to eclipse Freimann’s previous record of 32.50 from earlier this season.

Freimann also eked out a win in the girls 15-18 100-meter individual medley, winning the tightly contested race by .05 of a second with a winning time of 1:16.60.

Six Highland swimmers garnered first place in all three of their events. The half dozen swimmers who swept their events were:

▪ Trey Stephens won the boys 13-14 100 freestyle (1:02.78), 100 individual medley (1:12.57) and 50 butterfly (30.34)

▪ Tess Korte won the girls 13-14 100 freestyle (1:10.64), 100 individual medley (1:20.54) and 50 butterfly (33.87)

▪ Taryn Stephens won the girls 11-12 50 freestyle (42.43), 100 individual medley (1:22.91) and 50 butterfly (37.73)

▪ Galen Kohlbrecher won the boys 11-12 50 freestyle (33.15), 100 individual medley (1:24.50) and 50 butterfly (39.85)

▪ Masyn Smith won the boys 9-10 100 individual medley (1:39.34), 25 backstroke (20.53) and 25 butterfly (18.03)

▪ Tucker Stephens won the boys 8 and under 25 breaststroke (24.64), 100 individual medley (1:35.78) and 25 butterfly (20.25)

In addition to Freimann, the Splash also had three other swimmers win two of their three events: Thomae in the girls 15-18 100 freestyle (1:03.37) and 100 breaststroke (1:23.35); Ben Walter in the boys 13-14 100 breaststroke (1:25.59) and 100 backstroke (1:17.14); and Madeleine Schmidt in the girls 11-12 50 freestyle (33.50) and 50 backstroke (39.77)

Following are the complete results of the Highland Splash’s individual point scorers, as well the relay teams who placed in the top two in each event for the Highland Splash.

(Events at this meet were competed in meters. There are three swimmers in total from both teams combined who score in each individual event, so one team is allowed to score its top two swimmers in any one individual event. Therefore, each team is guaranteed to score at least one point in each and every individual event. This does not include the meet-opening medley relays or the meet-ending freestyle relays, in which only the winning relay team scores seven points.)
