Senior Committee

The O’Fallon Township Senior Committee is hosting its monthly dinner and entertainment meeting starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15 at the O’Fallon Township building located at 801 East State St. in O’Fallon. Cambridge House is hosting Gary Jackson, a great story teller, who will be discussing the Civil War in Missouri from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16. Pachyderm to hold

Constitutional day event

The Metro-East Pachyderm will hold a Constitution Day Event at noon Friday. Daniel J. Ford, author and historian, is scheduled to speak at the meeting held at Amore' Ristorante in O’Fallon.

The meeting opens for lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Council to honor

POW/MIA vets

The Scott POW/MIA Council plans to hold its 25th Annual POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at VFW Post No. 805, 221 W. First ST, O’Fallon, Illinois, on Saturday, Sept. 17. Each year, the VFW invites former prisoners-of-war (POWs) and their family members living in the St. Louis Metro and Metro-East areas, along with leaders from both Scott Air Force Base and the local community to honor those who were held as POWs as well as those who are still listed as missing. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and lasts approximately one hour. A complementary barbecue for guests begins at 11 a.m.

4th Annual KiXX

Grab your family and friends and enjoy soccer games, food and fun this weekend at the O’Fallon Family Sports Park. Various games, merchants and food trucks will be set up as part of the 4th Annual KiXX September Soccer Tournament.

The 2 Girls/4 Wheels Food Truck arrives at the park early Saturday morning, offering breakfast and lunch until 3 p.m.

Peel Brewing Company returns with their craft beer tasting area for those 21 and older.

Families will enjoy custom smoothies, frozen lemonade, kettle korn and Chick Filet/concessions.

Premier Sporting Goods and Fine Designs will also offer customized sports gear.

On Sunday, Slice of the Hill Food Truck joins Juice Masters smoothies with a variety of delicious food and drinks.

And back by popular demand—the Giant Hamster Balls will be rolling both days, for kids of all ages. Vendors will be set up on the circular drive in front of Pavilion 4, on O’Fallon Family Sports Park Road, between the Soccer Turf and the Splash Pad/Playground.

Dandy Dancers will be hosting an introduction to Modern Western Square Dancing from 7 - 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, at the Caseyville Township Senior Center, 10001 Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights. No partner is required. No experience necessary. Refreshments will be served. This will continue on Monday evenings through December 19.

The O’Fallon Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale and craft show from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sept. 24. The sale will be held at the corner of Hwy 50 and Lincoln Avenue. In addition to offering a limited selection of fall blooming plants, pumpkins, gords sand a large selection of fall craft items will be offered.

The Dysart Family will present a concert at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Faith Lutheran Church, 520 E. Highway 50, O’Fallon. The Dysart Family is known for fine southern Gospel music. Bowl-A-Thon

St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights is hosting a Bowl-A-Thon starting at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the Special Olympics. The event is sponsored by the O’Fallon Police Department and includes a 50/50 raffle, wheelbarrow of booze and attendance prizes. Funfest

Hooray for Hollywood Funfest will be held fro 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 1 at Faith Lutheran Church in O’Fallon. This fun-filled evening will feature a tasty fried chicken dinner complete with sides and dessert, movie music by Faithful Flutes, Kie & Wayland, and Pastor Bob on accordion. There will also be games for all ages, and a movie costume parade for all ages featuring G-rated costumes from movies starting at 6:30 p.m. in the narthex. A freewill donation for the dinner will be given to BABYTalk, formerly Parents as Teachers. Volunteers are needed to help with the meal and games. For more than 30 years the Sgt. Charles A. Fricke VFW Post 805 and the Post 805 Auxiliary has hosted O’Fallon’s annual Veteran’s Day parade. This year it is slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. Parade line up is at 12:30 p.m. at the O’Fallon Community Park on the corner of Fifth and Park Streets at the Katy Cavins Community Center.
