K of C Fish Fry

The O’Fallon Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary continue to sponsor a weekly fish fry with lunch available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and for dinner from 4-8 p.m every Friday at the K of C Hall, located at 402 E. Highway 50, across from the Community Park. The traditional menu of cod and tilapia will be available, along with hamburgers, hot dogs and additional side dishes. Metro-East Pachyderm meeting

The Metro-East Pachyderm Club of O’Fallon will host its weekly meeting covering ‘All Things Political in St. Clair County,’ from noon to 1 p.m. at Amoré Restorante at 1050 Eastgate Dr. in O’Fallon. Library children’s activities

The O’Fallon Public Library Children’s Activity Room will be open from 1-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 for kids attending kindergarten through sixth grade who may be bored while school is not in session. The library will provide kids with the opportunity to play board games, build with architectural blocks, read or put puzzles together. No registration is required. O’Fallon Library author visit

Come to the O’Fallon Public Library to hear local author, Josie Hladick and illustrator Mary Ann Tutka discuss the animals featured in their book “Follow Me to the Farm in the Forest,” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. The library is located at 120 Civic Plaza. As a special treat, attendees will get to visit with several animals from the farm including Bella the dog, Henny Penny the chicken, Lucy the rabbit and her babies, and Maggie Mae the pygmy goat. Josie will have copies of this book and her newest title for purchase. The event will take place on the children’s patio, weather permitting. Columbus Day Kids Fun Run

The Knight of Columbus will sponsor the 25th Annual Columbus Day Kids Run for Special Olympics starting at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 10 at the O’Fallon Community Park. Sign up at the K of C Hall at 402 East Highway 50 in O’Fallon across from the park. Sign up in advance or at least by 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event at the K of C Hall. All participants must be registered by 10:30 a.m. on run day. Cost is $10 per runner and the first 100 to sign-up receive a race day T-shirt. McKendree vocal master class

McKendree University’s Hettenhausen Center for the Arts is hosting internationally renowned soprano Christine Brewer to share her expertise in a vocal master class from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. Southwestern Illinois Community College will open it’s doors for a manufacturing day open house from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14 to showcase new technology, educational programs, career opportunities, products and services. A welcome ceremony begins at 9 a.m. The SWIC Sam Wolf Granite City Campus, 4950 Maryville Rd., will serve as the event hub for the day. VFW sponsors first-ever BaconFest

The Sgt. Charles A. Fricke VFW Post 805 and Post 805 Auxiliary will be hosting the first-ever BaconFest on Saturday, Oct. 15. The BaconFest will raise funds for relief funds that help veterans and help promote community businesses. OTHS Cheer Camp

The O’Fallon Township High School Cheerleaders for Kid’s Camp are hosting a cheer camp from noon to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15 at the OTHS Milburn campus located at 650 Milburn School Rd. in O’Fallon. The camp will focus on motions and cheers, jumps, stunts and tumbling. Snacks and drinks will be provided and a parent performance will conclude the camp. Campers are encouraged to wear athletic clothing, tennis shoes and have their hair up in a ponytail (if applicable). The cost is $30 per child, and $25 for each additional sibling. The O’Fallon Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the O’Fallon History Museum located at 101 W. State St. OHS meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month year round, except the month of June due to the OHS annual picnic. The monthly meetings are open to the public with no charge. Free parking is available in front of the museum on State Street or on the city lot directly south of the building across the railroad tracks. The Lewis & Clark Habitat For Humanity O’Fallon chapter is hosting its second annual Ghosts, Goblins & Ghouls Spooktacular 5K fun run event at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at Amelia Carriel Junior High School. The route will begin and end at the school located at 451 N. Seven Hills Rd. The festivities of the day do not end with the run, as pancakes will be served at the finish line, donated by The Egg and I. Saturday, Nov. 15 is the last day for food and monetary donations for the O’Fallon Annual Thanksgiving Meal. Items can be dropped off between now and Nov. 15 at Benedick Title Insurance, 1004 S. Lincoln Ave., Suite. 9. Monetary donations must be made payable to the O’Fallon Community Food Pantry. The event is slated from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24.
