O’Fallon Book Club meeting

The O’Fallon Book Club meets from 7 to 8 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month, except December at the O’Fallon Public Library in the upstairs conference room at 120 Civic Plaza in O’Fallon. Discussion of the current selection, “A Fierce Radiance” by Lauren Belfer, lasts about 45 minutes. The meeting is free and requires no registration. Senior Committee

The O’Fallon Township Senior Committee is hosting a senior dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m Thursday, Dec. 1. Tickets can be purchased for $3 each at the township building. At each event the seniors get a catered meal, entertainment and a chance to win prizes. The event will take place at the O’Fallon Township Building located at 801 E. Metro East Pachyderms

The Metro-East Pachyderm Club, of O’Fallon, will have its evening meeting beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Regency Conference Center, 410 Regency Park in O’Fallon. With a focus on the club’s annual installation of officers the banquet is $40 per individual or $75 per couple. The keynote speaker is slated to be Mark Reardon of KMOX Radio. There will be no Friday meeting. K of C fish fry

The O’Fallon Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary continue to sponsor a weekly fish fry with lunch available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and for dinner from 4 to 8 p.m every Friday at the K of C Hall, located at 402 E. Highway 50, across from the Community Park. The traditional menu of cod and tilapia will be available, along with hamburgers, hot dogs and additional side dishes. Baked cod has also been added to the menu. Dine in or carryout is available. Orders can be called in at 618-632-6229.

Tinsel the Town

A downtown O’Fallon shopping event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 in downtown O’Fallon. This is a downtown holiday event where visitors can take advantage of special discounts and treats at participating businesses, enjoy strolling carolers, take pictures with Santa Claus, vote on their favorite window display and enter a raffle for a $100 gift card. Carolers will roam State and First streets. The O’Fallon Township High School saxophone choir will perform outside the Chamber of Commerce Depot from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. at 116 E. O’Fallon Theater food drive

The Salvation Army Midland Division is hosting its 31st Annual Wehrenberg Cans Film Festival Food Drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3 at the O’Fallon Wehrenberg Theater at 1320 Central Park Dr. in O’Fallon. Guests who bring five canned food items to the Wehrenberg Theatre will receive free or discounted admission to any movie that day starting before 5 p.m. while tickets/supplies last. O’Fallon Garden Club meeting

The O’Fallon Garden Club membership meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m., the first Tuesday of each month. The program for the December meeting is the annual wreath making and potluck. Meeting location is the Katy Cavins Community Center located in the Community Park at 305 East Fifth St. Bring your gloves, scissors and other things to make your wreath. SWIC Running Start homeschooling meeting

The Southwestern Illinois College Running Start program is hosting an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6 for homeschooled students and their parents interested in the accelerated program. The meeting will be held in the Liberal Arts Complex room 2311-2313 at the SWIC Belleville campus. Current high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors are welcome. The program allows highly qualified students to earn a high school diploma while simultaneously earning an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from SWIC.
