Two O’Fallon High School seniors were recognized as students of the month for November: Hayden Ourada and Mary Kate Porath.

Hayden, 17, of O’Fallon is involved in a number of activities at OTHS including math team, robotics club, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Athletic Leadership Council and Club Leadership Council.

Hayden enjoys playing hockey and lacrosse and spending time with his family, which includes his parents John and Molly Ourada and two brothers. He’s the varsity captain of the hockey team.

Hayden, who is still undecided on where he will attend college, plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering. After graduating college, he said he hopes to attend graduate school to study business administration.

“In 10 years I see myself being an engineer and a youth hockey coach,” he said.

Hayden is a recreation volunteer at Cambridge Assisted Living Home and participated in the summer scholars program at Washington University.

Mary Kate, 17, of O’Fallon is also involved in a slew of activities at OTHS including cross country, track, math team, robotics club, Model U.N., Friends of Rachel Club, Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society and Spanish Club.

She is involved in her community as well as a St. Nicholas Church lector, volunteer at the Cambridge Retirement Home, St. Nicholas Church Youth Group member, O’Fallon Youth Committee member and a St. Louis Children’s Hospital Youth Council member.

Mary Kate is the daughter of Elizabeth Gowlovech-Porath and Dirk Porath.

Both Hayden and Mary Kate were selected based on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities and community involvement.
