To the Editor:
I read the O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce passed a resolution encouraging O’Fallon residents to vote YES on the upcoming referendum to encourage the city to consider a lease of the water and sewer system.
I think it is very important residents of O’Fallon know this important information. Our business leaders understand raising taxes is not good for business.
If the potential lease of the water and sewer system is not considered, the city is looking to raise our sales tax by 25 percent. That would drive people to shop elsewhere and not be good for our city.
A lease could bring in $50 million to our city while still maintaining control over the rates and safety of our water.
I want to encourage the voters of O’Fallon to follow the Chamber of Commerce lead and vote YES April 7.
